our future is in good hands

At the Academy of Arts, Careers & Technology (AACT), we believe the most powerful learning happens when students can see themselves in the future they are working toward. We are currently the only high school in NEvada that offers ALL of the first responder pathways. We recently brought in a brand new pathway, Law Enforcement. This completed all the emergency first responder career paths in one building! Police officer training was added to our Fire Science, EMT, and Emergency Management pathways.

Our students aren’t simply learning about emergency response from a textbook. They are practicing the skills, communication, and decision-making that first responders rely on when lives are on the line. Through hands-on scenarios and collaborative training, students begin to understand the responsibility, teamwork, and leadership required in careers such as law enforcement, emergency medical services, and fire service.

One of the most powerful aspects of these pathways is the real-world mindset students develop. In emergency response, every second matters. Students learn how to stay calm under pressure, think critically, and work as a team to solve problems quickly and effectively. These are not only career skills — they are life skills that will serve them wherever their future takes them.

Work-industry partners

In this video you will also see many adults working with our kids. Yes, they are actors, however they also are professionals from these exact careers. We are very grateful for our partnerships with REMSA. They send us volunteers to assist in large-scale labs like this one. We also rely on adult actors from Truckee Meadows Fire Department and Sparks Police Department. These service agencies are quick to raise their hands to volunteer and help on lab days because they know the immediate impact it has on these students, and they love talking to the students afterwards about their career moves and journeys.

Programs and partnerships like this reflect what makes AACT special. Across our academies, students are given opportunities to explore career pathways early, connect their learning to real professionals, and discover the impact they can have on their communities.

For many of our students in the First Responders program, this experience is more than a class — it is the first step toward a meaningful career dedicated to serving others.

We serve. We integrate. We succeed. We are Trailblazers.
